V-Day

Not that one. The love-y one! I have no pictures... GASP! I know I'm a sinning photographer! But to tell the truth I was WAYYYY too busy that day. I am sad that Evan & I have no pictures, I'll have to be better next year when he's doing the cooking.

I woke up to some cute notes from my hubby. One on a cookie he gave me (half eaten... thought that was HILARIOUS! :) ) and one on the door as I was leaving.  I had made him some valentines on the computer so I left those where he would find them too.

I came home & cooked homemade lasagna. Evan & I cook on Valentines. He made me awesome food last year & it was my turn this year. I hate waiting in line & in Utah, that's pretty much all you can do. Most places out here don't take reservations. I like our little tradition to cook at home & get to be left alone. So, recipe....

First I made homemade blue cheese & olive bread. Use whatever recipe you like & add blue cheese & olives. YUM!
Then I made my homemade sauce... Sorry but that one's a secret! Ok not really, I'm just not home to look at it, so I'll have to post it later. It's basically onion, garlic, chopped roma tomatoes & their juice, basil, bay leaf, oregano, pepper & salt, sugar (I used agave nectar), and tomato paste. And it's YUMMY.

While those were cooking I went back to work for a few hours....

Came home & started on the meat for the sauce. Italian sausage & ground turkey Italian flavored. MMM. Not a lot of work there! Just drain the fat or your lasagna looks gross.

Boil the noodles & start layering them n a 9x12 pan.

Noodles
Cheeses: ricotta, asiago, parmesan, mozzarella
Sauce & meat mixture

Repeat until pan is full. SOooooo good!

While that was baking I set up the salad. Dressing is this recipe, green leaf lettuce, strawberries cut into hearts, and blue cheese. I'd add salted almonds as well.

We were going to do chocolate fondue for dessert but Evan came home with a fever. Poor guy. So we had a great dinner & watched How I Met Your Mother & fel asleep! Boring to some but I had a nice time relaxing after cooking for 6 hours.

And now we have leftovers! YUM!
